The 2016-17 Board of Directors of the BCGA are:
Ian Hewitt – Mudrock1 – President – elected July 2015
Mudrock1 has been geocaching since 2005. He is passionate about all things geocaching! He lives in Kelowna, where he is full time carer for his wife, with Luvable Lacey the geo-dog and Dashing Deefer, geo-pup in training.
Kathleen Brophy – bajabetty – Vice President – re-elected June 2016
I have been geocaching since 2004, when my Mom told me about this cool treasure hunt she tried out. I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve geocached in 10 countries now, and have even found the last remaining APE cache in Brazil – which was an amazing adventure! I love events, meeting new cachers, and have met so many awesome people in this ‘game’. Some of those people have become more like family then just friends. Hope to meet you out on the trail, be that a real trail, a paved trail, or a social gathering!!!
Mad Friesen – Ricnmad – Treasurer – elected June 2016
I’m a recent retiree from interior health, with a business/computer background. I’ve been caching since 2013. We started as a reason for going for a walk, little realizing the many other benefits of caching. I enjoy spreading the word on caching and getting new people interested.
Brian Lang – brilang – Director at Large (Webmaster)– re-elected July 2015
Terri Hadwin – All-That-Glitters – Director at Large (Fundraising) – elected June 2016
I started geocaching in 2012 when moved to a new area and wanted to find hiking trails nearby, googled hiking in Ashcroft and was introduced to the Gold Country GeoTour. Bought a gps, and a Field Guide and found my first geocache “The Transportation Hub in Cache Creek, GC1V3XM”
3 years later, I have found close to 600 geocaches (not a ton, but I always have fun when out hunting for caches with friends.) Enjoy geoevents A LOT! Love meeting new cachers and hearing their stories of the trail. My favorite geocache right now is, “In case of fire break cache, GC4MG7H”
I am happy to be a part of the BCGA and will try my best to help it grow as an entity that will help geocaching flourish as a fun, free activity to do in British Columbia. #ExploreBC #ExploreGoldCountry
Michelle Hewitt – DaisyDolittle – Secretary – replaced previous director June 2016
DaisyDolittle is married to Mudrock1 and stepped into the breach as Interim Secretary following the 2016 AGM, when no other candidate stepped forward. She abstains from all votes, feeling that only one vote on the board should come from a household. If anyone is interested is becoming the secretary, please get in touch at [email protected] to learn about the role.
Board members are elected for a two year term. The Board of Directors usually meet monthly and the minutes of their meetings can be found here.
